Privacy Policy

Inday Trending has no accounts, no sign-ups, and no newsletter. We never ask for your name, email address, or phone number, and there is no form on this site that could send them to us.

What we do receive is the ordinary, non-identifying information that analytics software records about a visit:

• an approximate location worked out from your IP address, usually no more precise than your city
• which pages you opened
• how long you spent on them
• your device type, browser, and screen size

We use this to learn which stories people finish and which ones they leave. It is not assembled into a profile of you as a person.

One exception worth naming. Our servers briefly hold your IP address in memory to rate-limit the view and reaction endpoints, so that a single visitor cannot inflate a story’s numbers. That entry lasts about a minute and is never written to our database.

Every story shows a view count and a heart count. Both are plain totals stored against the story, not against you.

Opening a story adds one to its view count. Tapping the heart adds one to its heart count. Neither request records who sent it — the story’s number goes up, and nothing else is written down.

Search works the same way. Your query is used to find matching stories and is not saved to our database, though our hosting provider may hold it in short-lived server logs, as it would any other web request.

This site uses cookies for analytics and advertising, plus two small values stored inside your own browser.

Advertising and analytics cookies stay switched off until you accept them. We run Google Consent Mode with every signal — ad storage, ad user data, ad personalisation, and analytics storage — set to denied by default. Nothing is measured and no personalised ad is served until you press Accept on the banner. Choosing Decline leaves all four denied.

Two values are kept in your browser’s local storage and are never sent anywhere:

• itd-consent — records whether you accepted or declined, so the banner stops asking.
• theme — remembers whether you chose the light or dark appearance.

You can clear both at any time through your browser’s site-data settings, and you can block cookies entirely from there as well.

We show advertising through Google AdSense and AnyMind Group. Ads are what keep the stories free to read.

If you accepted cookies, these services may use them to show ads matched to your interests based on your browsing. If you declined, they still serve ads, but non-personalised ones.

You can control this yourself:

These are the services behind the site, and what each one actually does:

• Google Analytics — measures traffic and shows which stories hold attention.
• Google AdSense — serves advertising.
• AnyMind Group — serves advertising.
• Vercel — hosts the website and delivers it to your browser.
• Neon — the database holding the stories and their view and heart counts.
• Cloudflare R2 — object storage for story images.

Each may process technical data such as your IP address in order to do its job. None of them receive personal details from us, because we hold none to give.

There is no personal data to retain, so this section is short.

• Analytics data is held by Google for the retention period set on our property, then deleted automatically.
• View and heart counts last as long as the story does. They are totals with no identity attached, so there is nothing in them to expire.
• The rate-limiting entry described above survives about a minute in server memory and is then discarded.
• The two local-storage values stay in your browser until you clear them.

Inday Trending is operated from the Philippines, but the services that run it are not all located here. Vercel, Neon, Cloudflare, and Google process data on servers abroad, including in the United States and Europe.

If you are reading from the European Union or the United Kingdom, this means the technical data described above crosses borders. Each of these providers operates under its own published safeguards for international transfers.

The site is served entirely over HTTPS, so the connection between your browser and our servers is encrypted.

The strongest protection we can offer, though, is that we hold almost nothing. There are no accounts to breach, no passwords to leak, and no contact details on file. Access to the database and image storage is limited to the people who run the site, and the endpoints that update view and heart counts require a shared secret before they will write anything at all.

At any point you can:

• decline cookies on the banner, which keeps analytics and personalised advertising switched off
• clear cookies and local storage in your browser, which resets that choice
• opt out of personalised advertising through the links in the Advertising section above
• block cookies entirely in your browser settings

Under the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 you have the right to be informed about how your data is handled, the right to access what is held about you, and the right to object to its processing. This page is our attempt at the first. For the other two, it is only fair to say plainly that we could not look you up even if you asked — we keep no identifier that would let us find data belonging to you in particular.

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. Because we collect no personal data from anyone, there is nothing about a child for us to hold or to delete.

If you believe a child’s information has somehow reached us, tell us through our Facebook page and we will look into it.

We update this policy whenever the site changes — a new service, a new feature, or a correction to something stated inaccurately. The date shown at the top of this page is when it was last revised.

Changes appear here rather than being announced separately, since we have no mailing list to announce them to.
